This family photoshoot was a super special shoot and with a family that is very close to my heart. This family… this family is amazing. When I was 12, I met Scotty and Dana at a youth group that I went to every Tuesday night. They were some of our group leaders and we became close friends after that. They watched my brother and I grow up and were such amazing role models for us.

Now they have three beautiful children of their own and I am loving watching them grow up. These two are my biggest inspirations and role models, I feel so lucky to have met them and have them in my life and now be able to capture their family in this photoshoot. 

Our Photoshoot History

Vienna, Ruby and Everett and the Ast Family’s sweet children. I was there the day after Vienna was born in the hospital to take a family photoshoot of that amazing time in there lives. I then came to their house a few weeks later to take a couple more photos.

Fast forward a few years and Ruby was on the way. Scotty and Dana so wanted me to be there so I could capture what I did for Vienna, so they flew me back to Kona to be there. Ruby was ready to see the world and came a few days early so I didn’t get to see her in the hospital. At the time I was still able to photograph them as a family of four in their home. One year later I just so happened to be in Kona, so we planned to get together for another family photoshoot and it landed on Ruby’s first birthday.

Later that year, Dana found out she was pregnant again with a beautiful baby boy. This last January I was back home for a visit so we of course had to get photos of this beautiful family of 5! They have two perfect princesses and a beautiful little prince. The perfect family to say the least. 

Photoshoot for a Family of Five

I will photograph this family for as long as I can. I do have to say it has gotten a little harder now that they are a family of 5 but I love every second of it. The chaos is what makes these family photos so great. I love sharing the in-between moments that everyone doesn’t always see. Those are the true memories of these times. Nothing is perfect and things don’t always work out exactly how they are meant to but thats what makes memories so beautiful.
